From still frame to motion

Think in moments rather than effects. Plan a short cinematic sequence around one clear movement.

Motion is most convincing when the frame has a clear job. Before animating a still image, decide what should change over the shot and what should remain stable. A restrained movement can be more expressive than a scene in which everything moves.

Choose a single gesture

Try a slow camera push, a subtle turn of the subject, or a gentle environmental shift. Describe the movement with a beginning and an end. Avoid asking for several competing actions in a short clip. The viewer should be able to understand the moment at a glance.

Review continuity, not only beauty

Watch for changes in identity, lighting, and background structure between frames. Review the clip at its intended speed and pause at the transitions. Select the version that feels coherent rather than the one with the most dramatic effect. A believable small moment is a strong foundation for a larger sequence.
